We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmaceutical Technologist to join our dynamic pharmacy team and play a pivotal role in ensuring safe, accurate, and efficient pharmacy operations that directly support exceptional patient outcomes.

This is an opportunity to work within a well-equipped, patient-centered clinical environment alongside specialists across multiple disciplines. If you are passionate about pharmaceutical care, thrive in a fast-paced hospital setting, and are driven by the desire to make a meaningful difference in patients' lives, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities
  • Dispense medications accurately in accordance with prescriptions issued by licensed medical practitioners, ensuring correct dosage, labeling, and patient instructions.
  • Receive, verify, and process pharmaceutical orders from clinical departments and outpatient units in a timely manner.
  • Maintain proper storage conditions for all medications, including temperature-sensitive and controlled substances, in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Conduct regular stock counts, manage inventory levels, and flag low-stock situations to the Pharmacy Manager to prevent drug shortages.
  • Assist in the procurement process by preparing requisitions and reconciling pharmaceutical deliveries against purchase orders.
  • Counsel patients and caregivers on proper medication use, potential side effects, and adherence to prescribed regimens.
  • Ensure full compliance with Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) regulations and internal hospital pharmacy policies.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient medication records within the hospital's health information system.
  • Collaborate with nurses, clinicians, and other healthcare professionals to resolve medication-related queries and promote rational drug use.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, including monitoring for adverse drug reactions and reporting within established pharmacovigilance frameworks.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Must hold a valid registration with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board of Kenya and maintain a current practicing license.
  • Able to accurately interpret and dispense prescriptions with zero tolerance for dispensing errors in a high-volume clinical setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage pharmacy inventory systems, conduct stock reconciliation, and minimize drug wastage or expiry losses.
  • Capable of counseling patients clearly and empathetically on medication regimens, including those managing chronic conditions.
  • Proficient in using pharmacy management software or hospital information systems to record transactions and maintain patient records.
  • Able to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team, escalating clinical concerns appropriately and professionally.
  • Minimum of 2 years' hands-on experience in a hospital or clinical pharmacy setting, demonstrating progressive responsibility.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple dispensing queues without compromising accuracy or patient safety.
Salary & Benefits

Savannah Healthcare offers a competitive remuneration package commensurate with qualifications and experience. The estimated monthly salary for this role is in the range of KES 55,000 – 90,000, benchmarked against Nairobi hospital pharmacy market rates. Additional benefits typical of the healthcare sector may apply.

  • Supportive, multidisciplinary clinical work environment
  • Opportunities for professional development and continuous learning
  • Access to on-site clinical services and resources
Who Should Apply
